Pioneering Sustainable and Economically Viable Hydrogen Peroxide Production

The Power2Hype project represents a significant breakthrough in the sustainable production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Through an innovative electrochemical process, Power2Hype uses renewable energy sources, air, and water for producing H2O2, thereby drastically reducing the reliance on fossil fuels traditionally used in H2O2 production.

Pioneering Carbon-Neutral H2O2 Production – It is Time to Design and Build the Test Unit

Solvay, in collaboration with its eleven consortium partners, proudly takes part in the Power2Hype project. This innovative initiative aims to revolutionise hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production by demonstrating a pilot unit capable of achieving a carbon-neutral footprint, significantly enhancing the environmental benefits of this essential chemical. After a year and a half of rigorous development, the project has now advanced to a critical phase with the design and construction of the pilot plant stack in work package 5 (WP5) underway.

Framing the impacts of sustainable hydrogen peroxide production!

We're sharing some insights into our latest research activities in the WP7 Technology Impact Assessment under the Power2Hype project. Our focus: scaling up and rolling out efficient, eco-friendly H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) production via the novel power2hype approach. H2O2 is an incredibly versatile and essential chemical used in a variety of industries, from paper bleaching to chemical synthesis.

Combined CVD-PVD coating: Metal particles on BDD

The Power2Hype project is innovating hydrogen peroxide production through a novel combined Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coating process. By integrating boron-doped diamond (BDD) with metallic catalyst particles, the project aims to enhance the electrochemical production of hydrogen peroxide.

Development of an optimal non-noble metal, mesoporous carbon electrocatalyst and design of cathodic half-cell for the two-electron oxygen reduction reaction to H2O2

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research (WFBR) is revolutionizing hydrogen peroxide production by developing an eco-friendly electrochemical process as part of the Power2Hype project. Focusing on non-noble metal catalysts with high efficiencies, WFBR has achieved a 90% faradaic efficiency and is advancing to larger-scale tests. The work promises a more sustainable and energy-efficient method for producing high-purity hydrogen peroxide using green electricity.
